Glum Tortoise is a young studio that has gained a lot of exposure in the past eight years. Currently represented by prominent galleries internationally. The artist works predominantly with painting and has had an exciting venture into her career since 2017 including twelve solo shows, a multitude of press, upcoming solo shows and the opportunity to share her practice through various media.

We are seeking to appoint a full time Project Manager to work hybrid between Monday to Friday in our studio based in South London. The role requires flexibility and might include a degree of travel. The successful candidate should have the ability to safeguard and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work, and respect the privacy of the artist and individuals involved.

Summary of Role



The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering projects for Glum Tortoise Ltd and the GlumChum Foundation. This includes oversight of exhibitions, international art fairs, and artist residencies, as well as providing executive and administrative support to the Managing Director in areas such as scheduling, communications, and operational coordination.

The role bridges both the company's commercial operations and the foundation's charitable activities, requiring a combination of project management, executive support, and cross-cultural communication skills.

Key Duties



Project Management



- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects including exhibitions, art fairs, and solo shows.
- Manage project budgets, monitor expenditure, and report variances to senior management.
- Prepare, review, and update consignment agreements with galleries, collectors, and partner organisations.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including curators, gallerists, and international partners.
- Monitor timelines, risks, and milestones, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule.
- Maintain project documentation, contracts, and compliance records.

- Exhibit a strong ethic and multitask with speed and efficiency

- Be an enthusiastic and passionate member of the team.
- Support partnership development with organisations in Asia and Europe, including bilingual communication where required.

Executive Support to Managing Director (Glum Tortoise Ltd & GlumChum Foundation)



- Provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Managing Director across both Glum Tortoise Ltd and the GlumChum Foundation.
- Manage the Managing Director's diary, correspondence, and travel arrangements.
- Coordinate internal and external meetings, take minutes, and track actions.
- Prepare briefing documents, presentations, and reports for board and partner meetings.
- Liaise with external partners, trustees, and collaborators on behalf of the Managing Director.
- Assist with planning and delivery of foundation board meetings, residency selection panels, and donor events.
- Support internal communications and cross-departmental coordination.

Foundation Support



- Provide project management and operational support to the Managing Director of the GlumChum Foundation, assisting in the planning and delivery of residencies, grants, and artist support programmes.
- Maintain communication with partner organisations, artists, and programme participants.

Required Skills and Experience



- Proven project management and administrative experience in the arts, creative industries, or international exhibitions.
- Demonstrated ability to support senior leadership and manage complex schedules.
- Strong understanding of both commercial and charitable arts operations.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, logistics, and reporting.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, including cross-border stakeholder management.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Japanese or Mandarin).
- Proficiency in project management and office tools (Asana, Trello, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite).

Terms



Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week /5 days a week
Contract Type: Permanent
