We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to ensure smooth running our Defence Contracts. This is a permanent role, with the first project lasting 3 to 5 years.
The Project is an Official Sensitive Defence Naval contract. The Project Manager will need to take control of running this project, managing a team of staff, and coordinating with customers, suppliers, external bodies as well as the AMP senior management team.
Responsibilities
Updating the complex Microsoft project GANTT charts, coordinating design, complex documentation, milestones, reviews, meetings etc.* Ensure best practice technical, logistical and commercial direction is always in place for project delivery.
Perceive problems well in advance and consider the broad range of commercial and technical factors in assessing the situation, identifying possible solutions and implementing approved solutions.
Act as the central point of liaison and coordination with all stakeholders throughout the project life
Planning and organizing the resources required to execute assigned projects.
Manage projects through an end to-end project life cycle; monitor overall project progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans.
Deliver on time, on budget, on quality Project Management at all times.
This contract critical to the UK Defence so will receive the utmost scrutiny.
Skills
Must be capable of motivating project/works personnel to achieve project success.
Must be capable of occasionally working outside normal working hours to meet customer project requests as required.
Excellent communicator at all levels to negotiate best outcomes internally and with customers.
Must have high levels of competence in engineering of projects, running engineering-based projects and related issues including effective utilisation of resource teams.
Demonstrable ability to prioritise and differentiate projects tasks and sales support requests within a complex and conflicting environment.
Experience in a similar role in this or closely related industry, having also performed at lower levels in technical project delivery role on which this role builds upon.
Must be proficient in MS office.
A formal qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is required, preferably at degree level.
Previous Project Management experience is essential.
A formal Project management qualification such as PMI, PRINCE2 or similar is an advantage.
Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete Full employment checks, DBS and BPSS security checks.
Must hold a full UK Driving Licence.

The Package
The position is permanent, based Newport Pagnell / Milton Keynes, Salary 45-55k negotiable per annum depending on experience, 37.5 hours per week (core hours), 4 day week, 23 days holiday + Bank Holidays, company bonus and pension scheme. This role is office based with the possibility for homeworking 1-2 days per week.
