Location: London

Purpose of the role: Implement and coordinate projects accommodating the OA Operations team goals, with the aim of improving processes and workflows to support the growth and performance of OA agreements at Springer Nature.

The Open Access Operations team sits within Springer Nature\'s Sales Operations group and is responsible for the end-to-end management of institutional and society open access agreements.

As a Project Manager within the OA Operations team, you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and monitoring of projects which positively impact our OA agreements. You will focus on workflow and process implementation to improve our service for internal and external stakeholders, with a view to high performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project planning, initiation and implementation.
  • Create and communicate robust project plans (big and small) for improvements to current processes/workflows that align with business needs and strategic goals
  • Assess project resource requirements and communicate these effectively to senior team members; create business case if needed
  • Show clear timelines for delivery, including blockers and risks
  • Communicate updates and progress to internal stakeholders, using presentations and project plan documents as needed
  • Coordinate diverse groups of stakeholders to see projects to completion
  • Build strong internal relationships with relevant teams to inform projects and optimise delivery
  • Monitor impact of initiatives, ensuring appropriate reporting and analysis is in place to measure success
  • Continuous improvement of team workflows and processes
  • Delivery of high quality customer service through efficient working practices
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Work with the whole OA Operations team to reduce waste/inefficiency in team workflows, aligning processes
  • Identify improvement areas where changes are required
  • Documentation
  • Create visualisations to inform project stakeholders and communicate change
  • Create associated project documentation suitable for communication across teams involved, and keep this up to date throughout the project lifecycle
  • Create and maintain value stream process maps
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand and map processes pertaining to the relevant area, identifying inefficiencies and waste
  • Create and maintain guidelines and documentation for internal and external use, including policy documents

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Educated to degree level (Bachelor or higher) or equivalent experience
  • Ability to quickly understand different workflows, systems and their dependencies and interaction
  • Excellent documentation and visualisation skills
  • Experience of working cooperatively with a range of stakeholders, internal and external, of varying seniority
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent projects and competing priorities
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and react quickly to changing priorities
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for handling projects with cross-departmental scope
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • High level of Initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to explain complex issues in a clear and concise way
Desirable:
  • Previous work experience in a sales operations or research publishing environment
  • Experience in lean methodologies
  • Experience with Google Suite and Smartsheet software
