Project Manager

Rotherham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Do you enjoy taking ownership of projects and leading teams to deliver high quality work, safely and on time?
Do you take pride in keeping multiple moving parts organised, communicating clearly, and making sure the customer experience is excellent from start to finish?

About us

At Precision Timber, we design, handcraft and install bespoke natural playgrounds and sustainable outdoor play equipment across the UK. We work with schools, nurseries, parks and commercial clients to create high quality outdoor spaces where play and learning come together. We are a family run business and take pride in quality craftsmanship, creativity and a supportive team culture.

The role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the day to day delivery of our playground projects, from internal handover through manufacture, installation and final completion.

You will liaise closely with our Site Manager, Workshop Manager, Sales team and Designers to keep programmes on track, manage risk and ensure every project is delivered safely and to a high standard.

You will be supported by a Projects Administrator who will manage routine client updates and project documentation. You will retain ownership of delivery governance, key client conversations, change control and escalations.

Our Junior Project Manager will shadow this role as part of their development, so you must be comfortable providing guidance, sharing best practice and supporting their learning.

Key responsibilities

Manage end to end delivery of projects from handover through manufacture, installation, completion and aftercare. Plan, track and report project progress using project management software. Experience using Monday.com is desirable. Lead regular project planning and review meetings, ensuring clear actions, owners and deadlines across the business. Coordinate internal teams and external installers or subcontractors to ensure site readiness, efficient delivery and high quality installs. Work closely with the Site Manager to coordinate site readiness, installation planning, subcontractors and safe delivery. Work closely with the Workshop Manager to align manufacturing outputs, lead times and quality with project programmes. Oversee client delivery communications and maintain a strong customer experience, delegating routine updates to the Projects Administrator and stepping in for key conversations and escalations. Maintain accurate project records including scope, specifications, approvals, variations, handover packs and close out documentation. Support safe delivery on sites by coordinating RAMS, inductions and site requirements with the Site Manager and installation partners. Ensure delivery aligns with relevant standards and guidance, including awareness of requirements such as BS EN 1176, supported by internal technical expertise where needed. Support the development of our Junior Project Manager through shadowing, coaching and sharing best practice in planning, client management and project control. Drive continuous improvement through better templates, checklists, planning discipline and delivery processes.

Skills and experience required

Proven project delivery experience in playgrounds or a closely related sector such as outdoor structures, landscaping or public realm works. Strong organisation and programme management skills, able to manage competing priorities and keep multiple workstreams moving. Confident stakeholder manager, able to lead delivery conversations and manage escalations. Solid operational understanding of site works, logistics, subcontractor management and quality control. Strong health and safety mindset, with experience coordinating RAMS and safe working practices. Comfortable delegating tasks, checking outputs, and keeping standards high across the team. Comfortable coaching or supporting junior colleagues, even informally. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for UK site visits as required. Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

SMSTS or SSSTS. Familiarity with BS EN 1176 and delivering projects in school and public settings. Experience improving delivery processes, templates and reporting.

What we offer

Competitive salary depending on experience. A hands on role delivering projects enjoyed by children across the UK. Supportive, collaborative team and close connection to in house design and manufacturing. Training and development, including health and safety and sector specific learning as needed. Pension scheme.
