Project Manager (scenic Workshop)

Introduction -



Production Solutions Group is looking to appoint a talented Project Manager to take a leading position in the Workshop, leading a variety of projects. You should be committed to high quality work and have a keen interest in working across the theatre / events industry. You will be joining our evolving team as we look ahead to numerous exciting projects which are coming up, providing excellent service to our clients across the country.

The Project Manager role encompasses a wide range of duties supporting all needs of the Workshop needs across projects. As such, this will involve working closely with Production Managers, as well as other departments (both internal and external).

Key Duties and Responsibilities



Project Management



Lead the planning, scheduling and execution of build projects.

Interpret design briefs, CAD drawings, and technical plans to develop achievable project timelines and budgets.

Collaborate with management to produce accurate costings and quotes for new projects.

Work with management to monitor each departments capacity.

Maintain clear communication with clients, designers and production teams to ensure artistic intent is realised within practical constraints.

Workshop & Materials Oversight



Work with the Workshop Director to manage day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient use of tools, materials and equipment.

Ensure quality control across all workshop outputs, from structural integrity to surface finishes.

Source, procure and manage materials and supplies cost-effectively.

Team & Resource Management



With the Workshop Director to coordinate workshop staff, freelancers and subcontractors, ensuring effective teamwork and safe working practices.

Work with Workshop Management and Heads of Departments on the recruitment of freelance additional staff to keep up with capacity.

Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards.

Client & Stakeholder Communication



Be the primary point of contact for clients, designers and show team.

Provide regular updates on project progress to clients and designers.

Manage client expectations with professionalism, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

Onsite Work



Occasionally attend venues to oversee the delivery and installation of builds.

Support onsite troubleshooting, ensuring smooth handovers.

Represent the brand to potential future clients, and maintaining existing relationships.

General



Maintain excellent department archives.

To always implement and track sustainability within the department and model best practice in terms of environmental responsibility.

Build and manage excellent relationships with external contractors and suppliers.

To engage and contribute meaningfully to development of Production Solutions Group and its subsidiaries Business Plan, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and Sustainability Plan.

To maintain good relations with industry bodies representing the company's interest within trade union negotiations or other environments in the sector.

To uphold and embody the Company's policies, including but not limited to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy, Dignity at Work policy and Health and Safety policy.

Any other reasonable duties that arise to fulfil the objectives of Production Solutions Group and its subsidiaries.

Person Specification



Experience



Essential



Proven working in scenic construction, set building or a similar technical workshop environment.

Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

Hands on knowledge of construction techniques and workshop practices including wood, steel, paint and set electrics.

Proven experience of working within internal and external teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside of the organisation.

Knowledge of Vectorworks or other CAD software.

Ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines and work under own initiative.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to prioritise.

Experience of working to budgets.

Committed to environmental sustainability.

Excellent time management skills.

Ability to problem solve using a methodical approach.

Attention to detail.

Computer literate on MS applications.

A desire to be helpful and supportive to the work of others in a producing and production environment.

Desirable



Good understanding of technical equipment.

Working knowledge of current Health and Safety Legislation and its application in a theatre / event setting.

Full clean driving license.

Knowledge of Theatre Green Book and Julie's Bicycle and / or Carbon Literacy Training.

First Aid Qualification.

Pay: 42,000.00-45,000.00 per year
