Primary Role



As part of our continuing expansion, we are seeking an enthusiastic Scenic Project Manager to join our team. This role is crucial in translating client visions into tangible scenic designs for corporate events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scenic design, excellent project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams, ensuring we deliver exceptional experiences that align with our reputation for technical artistry and creativity in the live events industry. This may be an ideal opportunity for a set builder to further their career in the industry or an existing project manager looking to progress.

Key Roles & Responsibilities



Work as part of the scenic team, supporting technical project managers or collaborating closely with clients to understand their vision, brand, and event objectives Develop detailed scenic design concepts and specifications that align with client needs and budgetary constraints Create and present design proposals, including mood boards, sketches, and 3D renderings Manage the entire project lifecycle from initial concept to final installation Work closely with the Scenic Workshop Manager to ensure designs are feasible and can be executed within given timelines Coordinate with other departments (e.g., lighting, AV) to ensure seamless integration of all event elements Oversee the creation of technical drawings and construction documents Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring all deliverables are met Attend client meetings and site visits as needed Stay current with industry trends and innovative design techniques Support the business in maintaining and developing key client relationships Update booking software with event progress and milestones Book and manage set & stage crew Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices Work on-site at venues across the UK and occasionally internationally Identify and develop new business opportunities to help grow our scenic department Assist other departments and perform other duties as needed to meet business needs

Qualifications and Key Attributes of the Candidate



Bachelor's degree in Scenic Design, Theatre Arts, Architecture, or related field (advantage but not essential) 3+ years of experience in scenic design and project management, preferably in corporate events or similar fast-paced environments Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of scenic design projects Proficiency in design software such as SketchUp, Vectorworks, and Adobe Creative Suite Excellent understanding of materials, construction techniques, and production processes Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Creative problem-solving and innovative design thinking Excellent visual and verbal communication skills Strong client management and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure Proficiency in creating detailed technical specifications and construction documents Ability to translate abstract concepts into practical designs Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials Familiarity with event industry standards and regulations Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and react quickly and efficiently to tasks Ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team Customer-focused mindset balanced with commercial awareness Keen eye for detail and high standards of presentation Full UK Driving Licence and own transport Understanding of lighting design and its impact on scenic elements (advantage but not essential) Experience with projection mapping and interactive technologies (advantage but not essential)

Training & Progression


Ongoing training will be provided as required. We are committed to developing our team and supporting career progression within our growing organisation. This is an entry level position, with a view to progressing to a Scenic Carpenter role for the right person (based on upskilling from senior members of the Scenic team and having a full UK Driving License)

Working Hours


If you have the experience we are looking for then you will already know that this is not a 9 'til 5 job. Due to the nature of our industry, we require our employees to have a flexible approach to their working hours. Weekend work may be required.

Pay: From 40,000.00 per year
