UTEC are looking to source a Project Surveyor on a full time, permanent basis. The Project Surveyor will provide technical survey expertise while assisting Balance of Plant Project Manager to achieve safe and profitable execution of assigned projects. Balance of Plant projects include geophysical survey of cable routes, typically limited to multibeam and side scan with occasional need for sub-bottom profiler or cable tracker (TSS).
Where necessary the Project Surveyor shall also support other UTEC projects including Construction Support and Site Investigation.
The Project Surveyor shall support the commercial team in developing lines plans and timing estimates for cable route surveys for Balance of Plant projects. For successfully awarded projects the Project Surveyor shall initiate, contribute, and continually monitor/improve the offshore plans and procedures to ensure quality results are achieved.
Duties & Main Responsibilities
- Assist to manage complete lifecycle of projects, from award phase, through planning, execution, monitoring, completion, and closeout phases, as well as post-completion evaluation and review.
- Contribute to project risk assessments prior to mobilisation.
- Confirm and accept transfer of project material generated during the bid stage to project teams, including contract requirements, technical specifications, and commercial terms needed for proper execution of projects.
- Assist in project execution and be responsible for identification, documentation, and action on contractual variations as they arise.
- Assist the Operations Management of personnel requirements for projects.
- Source project equipment both internally and externally for project execution.
- Identify and mitigate potential technical, commercial, QHSE risks for assigned projects.
- Administer and assist with specific project tasks.
- Utilise the appropriate procedures, work instructions, and forms within the IMS to properly facilitate compliance with Company standards.
- Review survey specifications in contract and project documentation.
- Provide input to the preparation of commercial and technical proposals as required.
- Compile project specific survey procedures in line with the Company's operating procedures.
- Work with other disciplines within the Company to ensure high quality technical content for commercial and project support.
- Keep abreast of relevant technical developments, working practices and Company procedures.
- Provide technical support to offshore teams as and when required.
- QC and issue of final reports in line with agreed timescales.
- Completion of project risk assessments prior to mobilisation.
- Participate in quality control of final deliverables to client.
- Liaise with internal logistics personnel to coordinate offshore staff and equipment mobilisation.
- Conduct site and client visits as required.
- Utilise the appropriate procedures, work instructions, and forms within the IMS to properly facilitate compliance with Company standards.
- Attendance on site to support during mobilization where required.
- Commercial & Business Development
- Provide technical input to bidding process as required.
- Promote Company services during day-to-day contact with existing and potential clients.
- Attend promotional events as required.
- Support the Project Manager to monitor project costs (3rd party and internal) against revenue daily, and provide weekly and monthly tracking reports of estimated revenues and costs
- Liaise with Cost Controller to ensure timely and accurate tracking of financials
- Create/Approve supplier Purchase Orders and invoices (within your authority and responsibility) for procurement within the timeframe required for the accounting department to process and report at regional monthly P&L meeting
- Provide specific performance data/feedback to supervisors of non-direct reports assigned to your projects.
- Support project briefings and close out review meetings with field staff.
- Promotion of the MTCS program and UTEC IMS.
- Help identify HSE, technical and personal development training needs within the Company.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in related subject and/or equivalent experience required
- Offshore survey industry experience as a Senior Surveyor and/or Party Chief required
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is essential
- Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
- Ability to competently and professionally present project materials in client meetings, as well as identify and mitigate client concerns.
