within Estates Services is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Oxford University's diverse estate. Our skilled, multidisciplinary team keeps everything running - from historic listed buildings to pioneering new facilities like the

About the Role


As a

Property Maintenance Engineer

with a focus on

carpentry and building fabric

, you'll carry out a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks -- from fault-finding to fire door maintenance -- helping to preserve historic buildings and ensure modern facilities run smoothly. Working both independently and with colleagues across the Estates teams, you'll plan and prioritise tasks, respond to urgent issues, and help identify opportunities to improve building performance.

You'll work closely with Building Managers and sustainability experts, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest safety standards. You'll also have the chance to support apprentices, engage with capital project teams during handovers, and contribute to long-term strategic planning for building maintenance.

About You


We are looking for someone who has:
A Level 3 qualification (e.g., NVQ or Advanced City & Guilds or equivalent) in carpentry Experience working independently in occupied buildings Strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of building safety regulation Experience supervising contractors and using maintenance systems like CAFM
