About The Role

Alexander Hall's award winning Protection team require a Tele-Interviewer to be responsible for handling tele-interviewing calls, providing feedback to Protection Advisers to ensure a smooth and efficient underwriting process for our clients. When not carrying out tele-underwriting additional responsibilities include medical report follow ups, client contact and case vetting. This role requires strong empathy, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, great customer service and the organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hybrid position, with the option to work remotely and from our West End office

Key Responsibilities:

Tele-Interviewing

Take and manage tele-interviewing calls, gathering relevant client information and liaising with insurers to obtain decisions. Feeding back on underwriting outcomes to advisers. Process and submit protection applications accurately to all UK-based insurers. Ensure all client applications meet compliance and regulatory requirements. Build and maintain relationships with insurers to ensure efficient case handling. Communicate with advisers and clients regarding medical evidence requirements, policy terms, and underwriting outcomes.

Client & Insurer Liaison

Depending on tele underwriting capacity and requirements there will additional responsibilities to support case processing through;


Providing a point of contact for clients Following up on medical references Track and monitor the progress of applications, following up with insurers where necessary.

Administrative Support

Maintain accurate records and update internal systems with application progress and underwriting notes. Ensure all documentation is stored securely and in line with data protection regulations. Support advisers by providing relevant policy and insurer information when needed.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure adherence to FCA regulations and company compliance procedures. Conduct quality checks on applications to minimise errors and delays. Stay updated on changes in insurer underwriting criteria and policies. ###

About You

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:

Previous experience in underwriting or protection insurance administration. Experience liaising with UK-based insurers. Experience in Tele-Interviewing for protection underwriting Strong understanding of protection products (Life Insurance, Critical Illness Cover, Income Protection, etc.) Excellent telephone manner and ability to handle underwriting calls professionally and with empathy. High attention to detail and accuracy in processing applications. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple applications simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledge of FCA regulations related to protection insurance.
