CONTRACT: Temporary, Part-Time (0.8 FTE) - Fixed Term until 31st August 2026
SALARY: Teachers' Pay Scale 33,731 - 46,595
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE/SCHOOL
The Monmouthshire Pupil Referral Service is a growing service working closely with the Local Authority to strive for excellence within a provision that prioritises wellbeing and inclusion. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and resilient practitioner to join our Pupil Referral Service. Applications are welcomed from innovative and enthusiastic teachers who are committed to inclusive practice and supporting vulnerable learners.
The service operates across newly refurbished sites in Chepstow and Abergavenny, with EOTAS provision across Monmouthshire. Staff are supported through a strong programme of trauma-informed and restorative practice training, and work within an experienced, collaborative and forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum reform and inclusion practice while supporting pupils to return to education or progress to their next steps.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote the educational progress and wellbeing of pupils across PRU and EOTAS provision.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching aligned with the Curriculum for Wales and the four purposes.
  • Assess, record and report on pupil progress in line with service expectations and policies.
  • Support pupils' development of literacy, numeracy and digital competence.
  • Contribute to curriculum reform, inclusion practice and blended learning approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and external agencies to meet pupils' needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and wellbeing through trauma-informed practice.
  • Prepare pupils for reintegration into school or progression into education, employment or training.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
  • Qualified Teacher Status and current EWC registration.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable pupils or within inclusive settings.
  • Strong classroom practice with high expectations for pupil achievement.
  • Good knowledge of curriculum reform and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work flexibly across sites and provision types.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and inclusion.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.
