Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional Manager to head the team at our freehouse in Bath, and provide an excellent guest experience.

We operate as a traditional pub. We serve well kept ales, high quality wines, spirits and draft products. We show all kinds of sporting fixtures and are have a great following with the Bath Rugby supporters. We have just opened our kitchen with an excellent chef and we plan to have regular live music events. Generally we want to create a warm and vibrant atmosphere where everyone is welcome - locals, tourists, young and old alike.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a bar setting, be able to work well in a team environment and be able to manage the daily running of the pub in the absence of the owner. The ability to provide excellent customer service at all times is essential.

Accommodation can be provided for the right candidate in a self contained flat above the premises. (A desire to live-in would be preferable but not essential).

Duties

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bar, ensuring smooth and efficient service
- Manage and train bar staff, including bartenders and servers
- Create and maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for guests
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Handle customer complaints or issues in a professional manner
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to coordinate food and beverage service
- Plan and organize special events or promotions

Qualifications

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Proven experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in a bar setting
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Proficient in bartending techniques, including mixology and drink preparation
- Familiarity with food production and kitchen operations
- Culinary background or training is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Experience in supervising staff and managing teams
