Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pub Supervisor to oversee operational aspects of our community pub, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and efficient business performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for hospitality. This role involves supervising the entire pub team (front-of-house and back-of-house), ensuring high standards of service, compliance with all licensing and safety regulations, and maintaining overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

As our Pub Supervisor, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and successful running of our establishment, with duties including:

Supervising and managing the entire pub team, ensuring effective team management, development, and collaboration across all departments. Overseeing all daily pub operations, from bar service to dining, to guarantee consistent quality and adherence to all operational and safety standards. Performing light cooking duties in our open-plan kitchen, preparing bar snacks and light bites to complement our drink offerings. Assisting in the development and implementation of successful sales initiatives, promotions, and guest engagement strategies. Maintaining impeccable cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the entire pub premises, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards. Training new and existing staff on service excellence, operational procedures, licensing laws, and all company policies. Monitoring inventory levels for both wet and dry stock, assisting in ordering supplies, and managing deliveries to ensure smooth operations and control costs. Addressing all customer feedback promptly and effectively to continuously enhance the guest experience and resolve any issues. Collaborating effectively with the kitchen team (where applicable for a separate kitchen operation) to ensure seamless food and drink service, particularly during peak hours. Ensuring full compliance with all licensing laws (e.g., responsible alcohol service, age verification) and other relevant regulations.

Qualifications:

To thrive in this role, you will need:

Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a pub, bar, or restaurant environment. Strong knowledge of pub operations, including bar management, stock control, and relevant licensing laws (e.g., Licensing Act 2003, Alcohol Scotland Act 2005 if applicable). Basic cooking knowledge and understanding of food hygiene best practices for light food preparation. Excellent hospitality and customer service skills, with a genuine passion for creating outstanding guest experiences. Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain impeccable attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of a busy pub.
