We are excited to offer two fantastic Public Health Officer opportunities within our ambitious and forward-thinking Public Health team, working as part of the dynamic Wider Determinants Team.
Vacancy 1: Public Health Officer - (
Permanent)
- Housing, Licensing & Environment
In this role, you will take the lead on improving health through action on environmental and housing-related determinants. You'll support the delivery of Slough's Air Quality Action Plan, shape healthier living environments, and influence local licensing policy to reduce harm and promote wellbeing.
Key areas of focus:
Lead the Housing and Health programme
Input into licensing policy and decisions
Deliver the Air Quality Action Plan
Commission services and develop policy proposals to reduce health inequalities
Vacancy 2: Public Health Officer -
(Fixed Term Contract, 6 Months)
- Inclusive Growth & Employment
This role focuses on economic wellbeing as a key driver of health. You'll work with colleagues in economic development and skills teams to tackle worklessness and employment barriers, manage the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Service, and champion inclusive growth across the borough.
Key areas of focus:
Drive the inclusive growth agenda
Collaborate with economic development and skills teams
Manage and monitor the IPS employment support service
Develop strategies to reduce economic inequalities and promote good work for health

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your Director.

26 days annual leave (not including Bank holidays), rising to 30 days between 2 - 5 years' service and 33 days after 5 years' service.
