Purchase Ledger / Accounts Payable Assistant



Are you an experienced and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger /Accounts payable Assistant looking to join a dynamic and supportive finance team? We are seeking a confident individual who can manage high volumes of invoices with precision and efficiency, and who is confident using Sage 50 software.

Key Responsibilities:

Process a high volume of purchase invoices (up to 1,000 per month) using AutoEntry. Ensure accuracy by cross-checking all invoice details and authorisation workflows. Manage multiple company accounts and departmental cost centres. Code invoices correctly using nominal, departmental, expense, and asset coding. Take ownership of the purchase ledger inbox, ensuring timely processing and authorisation of invoices, diarising payment requests, and promptly resolving supplier queries.
Sage 50 Duties:

Set up new supplier accounts with full and accurate details, including verbal confirmation of bank information.

Process supplier payments via the E-payment function and generate bank-ready files. Create, generate, and email supplier remittance advices. Conduct monthly supplier payment runs, export data to Excel, and prepare approval-ready reports. Perform accurate bank reconciliations using Sage's reconcile function. Maintain and manage direct debits using the recurring item's function. Handle intercompany transactions and journals via Sage's Journal entry feature.
Essential Skills & Experience:

Proven experience managing a busy purchase ledger and processing large volumes of invoices. Strong knowledge of Sage 50 Competent with Excel for reporting and data handling. Solid understanding of nominal ledger, departmental coding, and intercompany processes. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Proactive, methodical, and able to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of AutoEntry desirable but not essential
