We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that our supply chain operates smoothly and efficiently. This position requires strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of logistics and supply chain management. The Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating contracts, and maintaining relationships with suppliers to meet the organisation's needs.
Responsibilities
For this Purchasing Assistant role, you will be responsible for:
Obtain quotes and lead times from suppliers for materials and services
Raise and issue purchase orders, ensure order acknowledgements are received
Check all PO's issued and PO acknowledgements for price and delivery date accuracy
Expediate purchase orders where necessary
Processing GRN's / Request PODs for orders where necessary
Check invoices received against purchase orders and highlight any discrepancies
Add/update vendor details in the business system as required
General administration support to the Purchasing Manager
Obtain quotes and lead times from suppliers for materials and services
Skills
Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role
Strong administrative skills - handling orders, data entry, and data entry
Good communication - liaising with suppliers, internal teams, and customers
Attention to detail - checking order accuracy, pricing, and delivery schedules
Numeracy skills - working with prices, budgets, and quantities
Organisation & time management - handling multiple tasks and deadlines
Experience using Sage 200 preferrable
Microsoft Excel - confident with spreadsheets, formulas, and data management
General computer literacy (emails, document processing, internal systems)
Be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks and adapt to changing business needs & works well under pressure
Works well as part of a team
