Job Description

The Purchasing Controller is the lead person involved in the day to day running of the purchasing department, with 1 Team Member, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Purchasing and Commercial.

Responsibilities



Ensure a high standard of purchasing service across all departments, using appropriate methods to deliver value for money in line with company procedures. Advise and support operational and indirect teams on purchasing items and services. Lead RFIs and RFQs for major spend items and manage key supplier contracts. Support Finance to ensure supplier payments and invoices are compliant and accessible. Liaise with auditors and senior management, promoting best practice, controls, ethics, and spending integrity. Develop and implement purchasing procedures and systems, and prepare regular reports. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service standards. Manage supplier panels, negotiate agreements, and ensure contracts are established and followed. Supervise and develop the Purchasing Co-Ordinator, ensuring compliance and good communication. Support Compliance, Governance, and analysis of spend vs budget as needed

Skills and Qualifications required



Minimum 3 years' experience working within Purchasing Environment Knowledge of Logistics and Warehousing industry Experience of using Purchasing software system Excellent report writing skills Commercially minded Experience in purchasing processes; contract based and adhoc spends Target oriented Ethical understanding of confidentiality and security of all commercial data An assertive manner to deal with conflict Strong negotiation skills Good organisational, presentational, planning and administration skills Knowledge of Microsoft software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Knowledge of Microsoft D365

Education/Qualification



Educated to GCSE Level - minimum GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent Excellent verbal and written communication skills CIPS - Level 4 accreditation
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 37,237.24 per year
