In this role you will be supporting our purchasing manager with all packaging ordering, building strong and lasting relationships with suppliers and various other duties. As part of this role the company is happy to consider any relevant training, which will allow you to develop both professionally and personally.
As part of this role you will be required on occasion to travel to our Newcastle site however there will be no overnight stay needed and appropriate expenses will be paid.
Responsibilities, Duties and Requirements:
Research, select, sample request and purchase quality materials and services within budget.
Retail packaging, liaise with the marketing team regarding any packaging changes
Where required, attend supplier meetings, and visit other sites & suppliers as needed
Work in conjunction with QA team to ensure compliance to product specification and standard procurement terms and conditions
Communicate effectively with external suppliers to develop professional relationships
Continuous comparison and negotiation of suppliers and contractors to include price checks to get the best price possible
Support the Purchasing Manager with managing our:
o PRN obligations and other regulatory audits.
o Carbon reduction projects
o Insurance needs
o Utilities requirements and relationships
o Mobile phone contract
o Waste management contracts
o Fleet, carrier and logistics contracts
Plan new direct and indirect contracts with the Purchasing Manager. Monitor and review contracts regularly.
Deal effectively and efficiently with any supplier problems or queries
Discuss supplier invoicing and credit notes with purchase ledger/quality control/ warehouse
Order packaging materials to maintain adequate stock at all times within budget
Monitor global situations that can affect supplies and prices
Perform weekly stock checks as and when required, including packaging
Provide support/cover for all members of the purchasing team
Support technical procedures relating to BRCGS/GRS quality manual
Ensure all importation regulations, relating to procurement are met
Where required, attend supplier, HACCP/TACCP/VACCP, Allergen, CIN and Product reviews.
Develop and use basic BRCGS, H&S and continuous improvement knowledge to perform the role effectively.
Hold a valid full UK driving license
Salary: 28,000 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
Based in Bradford at our Head Office in person.
