Would you like to work for one of North Derbyshire\'s true success stories? A second-generation family-owned organisation whose roots are in engineering services within the utilities sector. They are a successful \xc2\xa360m turnover Global operating company with a strong domestic presence.

Based from their head office operation in the Chesterfield, North Derbyshire area, this is an exciting opportunity to join as their new Purchasing Manager. You will be instrumental in improving supplier relationships, managing a small team and ensuring both the direct and indirect purchasing needs of the company are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the effective management of the Purchasing, Stores and Suppliers.
  • Leading a purchasing service that meets the engineering needs of the team for subcontract services, MRO, Materials and Asset Management.
  • Develop and maintain a stable, value for money supply chain in an engineering environment.
  • Negotiate new supply contracts with long term partnerships as a focus.
  • Develop and improve trading terms with existing supply chain partners.
  • Work within budgetary constraints and ensure procurement lead times are met to safeguard of goods and services.
  • Value chain improvements for specific project ventures.
  • Take a proactive, continuous improvement approach regarding the full process of supplier onboarding, supplier contract reviews, goods received, asset and stock management control.
  • Responsible for the asset management, ensuring the business maintain correct stock holding, replenish damages while seeking new, more effective products that help meet the needs of their engineering services.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure stock levels are maintained and continuously updated to reflect the business needs.
  • Responsible for buying the best quality equipment, goods and services at the most competitive prices.
  • Responsible for ensuring cost efficiencies and control the purchasing budget.
  • Work with the Finance, Engineers, Yard and Stores team to identify and implement improvements to systems and reporting procedures.
  • Regularly progress orders placed to ensure production continuity.
  • Ensure quality and specification of purchased items are in line with required standards.
  • Consolidation of purchases wherever possible, to achieve maximum economic benefit Interview, negotiate with, and appoint new suppliers, in line with the company\'s approved supplier criteria.
  • Manage approved supplier list for performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Regularly review purchasing profiles for value and quality optimisation.
  • Liaise with, and keep informed, all relevant stakeholders in respect of price and specification changes, lead time expectations and supplier performance issues.
  • Manage stock rotation and minimum holding metrics.
  • Maintain accurate registers for issued work equipment, workwear and PPE.
Ideal candidate:
  • Experience of the engineering services, construction or utilities management sector is ideal.
  • Excellent negotiating skills, with a focus on securing the most competitive prices and ensuring excellent supplier performance.
  • The ability to \xe2\x80\x9cMake it Happen\xe2\x80\x9d, and possess excellent planning, communication and organisational skills.
  • An excellent problem solver and be able to make good decisions on behalf of the business.
  • Proven strong leadership skills and be driven to meet deadlines, with a strong desire to achieve customer and owner satisfaction.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to develop purchasing and sourcing strategies in a project drive environment.
  • Excellent supplier relationship skills.
  • Good computer, numeracy and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of, and ability to negotiate contract terms.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise in changing environments.
