About the role\xe2\x80\xa6

The Purchasing Manager has overall responsibility and accountability for all aspects of supplier sourcing, contract tendering, price negotiation and monitoring, for both the operational and capital costs of over 40 hotels, bars, restaurants, and care homes.

You will lead the P2P team and liaise with the Capital Projects and Estate Maintenance Teams. Location is flexible but there will be the need for occasional travel to Newcastle and London.

  • Experience within the hospitality industry of both large and focussed scale multi-site purchase tendering and contract negotiation, including F&B purchasing, property capex and repair and maintenance purchasing, business rates control, and utility contracts.
  • Strong Excel skills to ensure accurate competitor pricing analysis.
  • Experience of working with Procure Wizard desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with accuracy and attention to detail. Diligent and reliable.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work to, and ensure others work to, processes and deadlines.
  • Self-led with passion and drive to ensure targets are achieved or exceeded. Proactive, with a positive attitude, using initiative when completing tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Organisation and control of contracts in place, to create and maintain a full contract repository, with re-negotiation deadline documentation and management.
  • Liaison with Central Support and site level teams to identify cost improvement opportunities via improved purchasing management.
  • Leading, documenting and delivering \xe2\x80\x9cthree quote\xe2\x80\x9d purchase processes to drive better value purchasing within wider procurement categories and on individual items.
  • Monitoring and audit of past purchases to ensure they fall within the required purchasing authority and limits, and within agreed contract boundaries.
  • Delegation to, and monitoring and development of, the Purchasing team.
  • Reactive purchasing to ensure any bespoke, short lead time, or supply outage issues are delivered for the business to maximise operational results.
  • Presentation of major purchasing decisions directly to the Investment Committee.
  • Liaison with the accounts team to assist them in the effective preparation of Corporation Tax documentation.
  • Liaison with the accounts team to ensure payment of major items (where appropriate) and to assist in the reconciliation of some supplier statements if there are unsolved issues.
  • Monitoring of business trends and product availability to negotiate the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times.
  • Nurturing of relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best terms for company.
  • Identifying and researching potential new suppliers.
  • Evaluating and auditing the sustainability policies of all potential and actual suppliers
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duty that may be requested by management that pertains to the total operation as may be reasonably required, from time to time.
