This role leads the Purchasing team, overseeing daily operations, supplier engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales and Logistics. You'll be accountable for team performance, supplier negotiation, and ensuring procurement aligns with business priorities.

Key Responsibilities



Lead, support, and develop a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers across multiple locations. Allocate work, set clear priorities, and ensure delivery against departmental targets and SLAs. Act as a subject matter expert in procurement, offering functional guidance and supporting strategic purchasing decisions. Manage supplier relationships to improve pricing, availability, and responsiveness to sales needs. Negotiate effectively with suppliers to optimise margin and contract terms. Monitor and analyse purchasing data to identify margin opportunities and improve operational efficiency. Collaborate closely with Sales, Finance, and Operations to ensure procurement strategies support wider business goals. Oversee adherence to procurement policies, ensuring compliance and operational transparency. Resolve supply chain issues in partnership with Logistics, ensuring continuity of service. Step in to manage key purchasing activity where needed. Contribute to strategic initiatives and continuous process improvement as directed by the Head of Purchasing.

Experience & Skills



Proven experience in procurement, ideally within the IT or tech sector. Strong team leadership experience, including performance management and task delegation. Experienced in supplier management and commercial negotiation. Familiarity with financial principles related to procurement (e.g., revenue recognition, gross vs net margin). Skilled in using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel). Confident decision-maker, comfortable working at pace and under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust and collaboration across teams.

Desirable



Experience working with international suppliers. Knowledge of core CDW vendors is a plus. Understanding of Quality, Risk, and Compliance in procurement. Additional language skills would be advantageous.
