QA Automation Engineer - Full-Time, Remote (UK)

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web, mobile, and API applications. Implement and enhance automation frameworks using tools such as

Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, TestNG, JUnit

or equivalent. Participate in requirement analysis to ensure testability and identify gaps early in the development cycle. Execute automated and manual test cases as required to ensure complete test coverage. Identify, log, and track defects; collaborate with development teams for timely resolution. Contribute to CI/CD pipeline integration for automated test execution. Analyse test results, generate reports, and provide recommendations for improvements. Work in Agile/Scrum environments and support sprint planning, estimations, and reviews. Lead automation strategy and mentor junior team members (for senior-level candidates).

Required Skills

Basic knowledge of software testing concepts and SDLC. Familiarity with at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.). Understanding of manual testing and basic automation principles. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn automation tools. Strong experience in automation testing using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar tools. Good understanding of test frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, NUnit, Mocha, Jest, etc.). Hands-on experience with API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, Karate). Proficient in version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). Ability to work independently and deliver test coverage for complex features. Expertise in automation framework design, maintenance, and optimisation. Strong experience in performance testing, API automation, cross-browser/mobile testing. Ability to architect automation solutions and drive quality engineering practices. Experience mentoring junior QA engineers and leading automation activities. Knowledge of cloud-based testing environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is preferred.
