Department Description
With a global footprint, the Universal Music Group Royalty and Copyright Product Team designs, develops, delivers and maintains a number of technical solutions to calculate royalty accountings in a timely and accurate manner to our valued artists. We're also providing them with an extent and detailed visibility of these earning from various sources of digital incomes.
The team continuously collaborates with our international business teams to deliver innovative solutions as well as supporting best practices and new processes for a better royalty flow.
The Role
The QA lead will be responsible for ensuring the QA team is building and enhancing the manual and automation framework as well as designing and executing step definitions and feature files in accordance with the requirements. The QA lead will form the overall test strategy with ideas of tools and technologies to used.
The QA lead will be part of multiple project teams, working closely with the rest of the development and business teams to ensure deliveries are validated for a given timeframe and as per agreed acceptance criteria.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop comprehensive test strategies and plans
Define test scope, approach, and objectives for each project
Test planning and execution: create, enhance and maintain effective and test scenarios, ensuring adequate depth and breadth of test coverage
Manage QA team to ensure manual testing (e.g. smoke testing, regression testing for both functional and non-functional features of the application, and exploratory testing) is carried out
Understand the requirements from technical and business specifications
Actively support agile development methods and best practices
Use Jira to track defects and tasks, and test progress
Take part in meetings, provide estimates, assist in presenting issues and solutions
Collaborate with other development team members in the planning and analysis phases of user stories during scrum sprints, and with the QA team in areas such as training and assistance
Support the business test team in UAT
Skills and Experience required
Must haveStrong Software Testing experience within SDLC, preferably in an agile development environment
Experience building and maintain automated testing frameworks, such as Selenium WD, Cypress, Playwright or similar
Experience using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS Pipelines or similar for CI/CD
Hands-on experience of test planning, execution and maintenance of test scenarios using the principles of the BDD process
Knowledge of RDB and SQL for database interrogation
Experience with Rest API automation
Source control management ideally in Git
Passion for continuous integration and automated testing
Solid understanding of software testing concepts and methodologies
Experience in non-functional testing, e.g. cross browser responsiveness and cross platform testing, performance, etc.
Experience in defining functional and non-functional automated testing frameworks
Understanding of risk identification and analysis
Nice to haveKnowledge of Jira (inc Zephyr), Confluence
Experience in automation for mobile devices
Working knowledge of testing AWS technology
