JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Divisional QHSE Director

Site/Contract Supporting multiple locations

Purpose of the Job

To support the sustainable growth of the GWS | Local | Local UK | BT business group, enabling world-class operational delivery through:

1. Development and implementation of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) programmes, in line with group strategic requirements

2. Being an active member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

3. Provision of focussed support to operational teams for specific activity, such as mobilisations, bids or improvement programmes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Continuing work to implement GWS QHSE Maturity model an associated action plan.

2. Developing the Divisional QHSE strategy, in line with group requirements.

3. Direct and manage the Divisional QHSE resources, including Divisional QHSE Managers.

4. Developing and actively participating in audit and assurance programmes.

5. Develop and maintain Divisional QHSE training strategy.

6. Manage the relationship with client QHSE contacts.

7. Monitor and review divisional QHSE Performance, in line with Divisional QHSE Strategy and

8. Compile appropriate performance reports for the Division, in line with requirements and cadence of wider business group.

9. Support the achievement of good industry practice, business competitiveness and the development of a learning organisation.

10. Support new business activity, e.g. through the participation in bids and response to relevant elements of RFPs/RFIs.

11. Actively participate in QHSE Function meetings and activities.

12. Fulfilling duties incumbent on appointed competent person for the Division.

13. Any other duties as may be reasonably required.

2. Accountable to the CBRE GWS Local UK QHSE Director

Circumstances

A degree of travel across the UK is to be expected as part of this role, including spending time away from home for short periods of time (e.g. typically 1-2 nights at a time).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education [Essential] A good post-graduate level education, with a formal qualification in both occupational health and safety management and environmental management. Significant and relevant post qualification experience.

[Desirable] Formal management qualifications in environmental or safety management system auditing. Formal qualifications in areas of \'engineering\' i.e. electrical or electronics and or FM.

Accreditation: [Essential] Membership of the IIRSM or IOSH at \'Specialist\' level or higher.

Training [Essential] Incumbents must demonstrate a career showing continuous personal development in the related field of QHSE.

Experience [Essential] Specialist and strategic higher managerial experience in Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management. A practical and demonstrable knowledge of liaising with enforcement agency / insurers.

Practical experience must include;

Risk Management strategy development and implementation

Best Value analysis of QHSE resource support provision

Monitoring / Analysis of management system performance

Development and implementation of policy and process

Environmental risk and \'resource\' evaluation / management

Positively articulate QHSE through presentation media

Event investigation & analysis to drive improvements

Practical application of auditing

Development and delivery of QHSE training.

[Desirable] Working knowledge of varying business sectors.

Managerial experience within other functional disciplines.

Aptitudes Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Numerate with a high degree of computer literacy.

Character Excellent motivational and influencing skills. Able to contribute effectively and on equal terms across all business activities. Politically astute with a sound understanding of current issues.

Incumbents must have a high level of energy, be self-starters, confident and stable in manner, and be able to prioritise and work on a range of activities within a high pressure environment.

Circumstances Incumbents will be required to travel widely, support new business development, and participate in training and strategic reviews. Occasional overnight stays will be needed.
