Summary of Position



We are seeking to appoint a Quality, Health & Safety, Environment Manager. This role will suit someone from an SME Manufacturing background who is truly passionate about delivering results through Quality, Health & Safety and Environment initiatives.

The QHSE Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing the Company Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Management System and fully responsible for implementing safe systems of work and safe behavioural practices at all levels of the organisation.

drive through Quality initiatives to improve operational efficiencies in a safe and healthy environment with the special attention to the environmental impact for our team.



You will need to take a collaborative approach and work to embed a compliance culture throughout the organisation, from our shop floor operators to our senior management team members. You will work closely with and support the Management Team and provide a comprehensive, proactive, and professional QHSE service aimed at continual improvement. This will include management of the risk assessment program, accident investigation, data collation, analysis, report writing, training, inspections, and maintenance of the QHSE management system, including policies, procedures, and audits.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities



Health, Safety and Environment

Identify hazards, performing risk assessments and implementing control measures to ensure the risk of injury or loss is reduced adequately controlled, or eliminated. Complete departmental induction and orientation of new employees by providing information on hazards and risks in the workplace, job instruction, training and supervision as necessary to ensure safe working. Proactively prepare health and safety interventions and develop internal policy. Issue items of PPE, instruction in its correct use, maintenance and limitations. Ensuring a register of deployed equipment is continuously maintained and reviewed. Advise the business on a range of specialist topics, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery etc. Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks advising management of any improvements required. Carry out and co-ordinate accident / incident investigations, reporting RIDDOR to the HSE when required. Ensure all staff are aware of fire, evacuation and disaster procedures and coordinate regular training interventions in fire and emergency procedures and manual handling training, in collaboration with HR. Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health, safety and environment issues and risks including H&S Toolbox Talks, Newsletters and Bulletins.

Quality



Critical assessment of the company's quality procedures, standards and specifications, ensuring you initiate the appropriate actions to attain and maintain relevant quality standards (ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO17712, BRCGS). Responsible for the handling of all internal and externally generated NCRs, ensuring a robust root cause analysis is carried out. Allocate ownership of NCR actions and monitor to ensure effective implementation. Ensuring manufacturing or production processes meet relevant international and national standards. Identify opportunities to increase business performance. Handle customer complaints and investigations

Person Specification



Essential



Formal qualification in H&S and quality 5 years or more in a QHSE management role. Ability to define a QHSE strategy and the implementation structure Strong manufacturing background Track record in environmental management (14001 exposure) Experience with ISO9001:2015 Experience working within BRCGS environment Familiar with primary UK workplace legislation

Desirable



Relevant HND qualification, e.g. Engineering degree, Printing Technology, Manufacturing, etc. IRCA, IOSH or IIRM member IEMA Foundation certificate in Environmental Management CQI - PT qualification First Aid / Fire marshal certifications FMCG or printing labels manufacturing environment Level 3 Food hygiene, Intermediate HACCP and a good knowledge of BRC standards Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experience QMS system implementation
