Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) Manager to lead and further develop our quality, health & safety, and environmental management systems across our manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will ensure that all products meet internal standards and customer specifications, and that all health, safety, and environmental practices meet UK legal and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in promoting a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and safe working practices throughout the organisation.

7.00am to 4:00pm (30 Minutes lunch) Monday to Thursday, 7.00am to 1.00pm on Fridays

Primary Location:

Stourport with travel to Lye

Expectation of Travel:

Travel to different sites is a key part of the role.

Responsibilities



Quality Management



Maintain and continually improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 (and other standards as applicable). Lead internal and external audits, including customer and third-party accreditation audits. Investigate product quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Oversee quality control procedures, inspection processes, and documentation standards. Partner with production teams to ensure quality checkpoints are embedded in daily operations.

Health & Safety



Ensure full compliance with all UK HSE legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and related regulations. Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations, and hazard reporting. Develop and deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, and employee briefings. Maintain and update site safety policies, safe working procedures, and emergency response plans. Promote a positive safety culture and act as the site lead for HSE improvement initiatives.

Environmental Management



Support environmental compliance activities, including waste management, emissions monitoring, sustainability initiatives, and ISO 14001 processes where applicable. Work with external agencies and regulatory bodies as required.

Leadership & Communication



Provide QHSE guidance to managers, supervisors, and operational staff. Lead the QHSE team (where applicable), including training, coaching, and performance management. Produce regular reports and KPI dashboards for senior management review.

Requirements



Essential:



Previous experience in a QHSE or Quality Manager role within a manufacturing environment. Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and ISO standards. Experience conducting audits, investigations, and root cause analysis. Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.

Desirable:



NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards). Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 / 14001). Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma).
