Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting activities, including bookkeeping and reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Ensure compliance with HMRC, VAT, and UK tax regulations
Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies
Improve and maintain internal financial controls and reporting systems
Provide financial analysis and support strategic decision-making
Manage cash flow, cost control, and profitability tracking
Prepare and maintain financial statements and reports according to established guidelines
Manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections
Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts
Assist in budget and forecast preparation, providing variance insights
Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and analysis efforts
Utilise accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or PeopleSoft to streamline processes and improve efficiency
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in accounting software including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and PeopleSoft
Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices
Excellent financial management skills with the ability to analyse complex data sets
Experience mentoring or training team members is a plus
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder interaction
