Summary
As a Quality Team Leader at Puffin Produce Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance for our range of fresh produce. This position is essential for ensuring that we consistently deliver exceptional products to our loyal customers and will help our operations teams understand the quality of the crop that our farmers are delivering. We are looking for people who have had previous experience in a quality role and preferably have had some supervisory experience, this will give candidates a good grounding, ready to learn our specific processes and systems.
Job Purpose
To lead and support Intake QA dept ensuring incoming raw materials meet quality, food safety and compliance standards. The role requires a hands-on approach to supervising quality control operations and collaborating with production, technical, and procurement teams to uphold customer and company specifications.
Responsibilities
.Lead, manage and support QA Intake team across shifts to ensure effective quality control process by ensuring QA resources are allocated appropriately based on Production volume and seasonal harvest schedule.
Ensure all staff are trained and competent in quality inspections, sampling and testing procedures such as tuber sizing; defect visual and/or peel assessment to be able to carry out timely inspections of incoming Raw material deliveries
All Intake Records are filled in Momentum correctly maintaining all relevant traceability data
Issues are highlighted and escalated in a timely manner
The team are able to function in your absence and a deputy is clear on their responsibilities
Raw material quality or food safety issues are quickly identified and escalated to the relevant parties (Line Manager; Procurement; Technical)
Conduct regular team briefings & catch up`s, performance reviews and support personal development.
Support audit readiness by always maintaining high QA standards such as updated training records and any relevant internal audits
Deliver on-the-job training and maintain team focus in a fast-paced environment
Drive a proactive, right - first- time approach for quality and compliance QA equipment (scales; thermometers) are calibrated and maintained.
Ensure all quality activities are carried out in safe and hygienic manner, in accordance with food safety regulations.
Requirements
Experience in a quality assurance role within the food production industry preferred
Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety regulations.
Effective leadership abilities with experience managing a team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
IT Skills - MS word suite
