Are you passionate about empowering people with learning disabilities and autism? Do you want to lead change and make services better for everyone? If you're a values-driven leader with a commitment to inclusion and co-production, we'd love to hear from you.
Skills for People is a vibrant, user-led organisation that exists to champion the voices of people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We're proud to be at the forefront of inclusion, empowerment, and real change.
We're looking for a Quality Checkers Development Manager to lead and grow our team of Quality Checkers and Experts by Experience--people with lived experience who are trained to assess and improve services.
About the Role
At the heart of the Quality Checkers programme is a simple but powerful belief:
People with lived experience know what good support looks like.
Our trained Quality Checkers visit and assess health, social care, and public services. They speak directly to people who use these services to understand what's working and what could be better. Their feedback helps providers and commissioners to:
Hear honest insights directly from people.
Make improvements that matter
Meet co-production and quality standards
Move beyond "box-ticking" to meaningful change
We've trained and supported many people to become Quality Checkers--and now we're looking for someone to take this work even further
What You'll Do:
Lead and manage a passionate team delivering high-impact quality checks across services.
Drive innovation in service delivery, streamlining processes and improving outcomes.
Represent Skills for People at key events, building strong relationships with stakeholders and funders.
Co-design and implement standardised service models that reflect co-production and person-centred values.
Support the growth and sustainability of the service through strategic planning and development.
About You:
You're a natural leader with:
Experience working with people with learning disabilities or SEND families.
A strong background in person-centred approaches and community-based work.
Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
A passion for inclusion, empowerment, and social justice.
Why Join Us?
Be part of a values-driven, inclusive organisation making real change.
Work alongside people with lived experience to shape better services.
Enjoy a supportive team culture with opportunities for growth and development.
Help shape the future of a unique, person-centred quality checking service.
