Job Purpose:
Working within a small team of quality engineers in a busy, fast paced manufacturing environment. The primary focus of this role will be the compilation, validation, and submission of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to our aerospace customers, ensuring full compliance with AS9102, AS9100 Rev D, and Rolls-Royce SABRe4 requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end process of FAIR compilation, including gathering and verifying all required documentation, inspection results, material certifications, and process validations.
Ensure all FAIRs are completed in accordance with AS9102 standards and specific customer requirements (e.g., Rolls-Royce SABRe4).
Liaise with internal departments (engineering, production, inspection) to collect and validate data for FAIR submissions.
Submit FAIRs through customer portals (e.g., Rolls-Royce RRES system) and manage feedback or rejections.
Maintain a robust tracking system for FAIR status, approvals, and revisions.
Provide training and guidance to colleagues on FAIR requirements and best practices.
Ensure compliance with AS9100 Rev D and customer-specific quality standards.
Lead the development and deployment of zero-defect methodology.
Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits.
Develop and maintain quality PPAP documentation including Balloon drawings, control plans, PFMEAs, MSAs and Capability reports.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming product quality and compliance.
Interface with all internal departments on quality concerns or opportunities for improvement.
accomplishing investigation using established 8D techniques to determine problem, root cause, corrective, and preventative actions in support of internal and external non-conformances.
Point of contact for external customer and supplier quality activities.
Skills & Experience
.
Essential:
Practical knowledge of manufacturing and quality management systems.
Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, technical data and customer specific requirements including geometric tolerancing.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving skills, and some understanding of Aerospace requirements
Proven knowledge of SPC and the deployment of appropriate process quality tools and techniques.
In-depth experience of problem solving using appropriate quality tools and techniques such as 8d, 5 why
Effective communication skills to enable you to liaise with a wide range of people, internally and externally.
Flexibility and desire to work as a team player in a fast-paced customer-focused environment.
Desirable:
Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role within the aerospace industry.
Proven experience in FAIR compilation and submission, especially for Rolls-Royce and other aerospace OEMs.
Strong working knowledge of AS9100 Rev D, AS9102, and Rolls-Royce SABRe4Aerospace industry experience
Understanding of airworthiness and regulatory approvals and processes
Certified Lead Auditor (AS9100 or ISO 9001).
Experience with NADCAP special processes (e.g., NDT, heat treatment).
Knowledge of APQP and PPAP in aerospace applications.
Hours of Work, Remuneration and Benefits
37 hours per week - Monday to Friday, early finish on Friday
Annual Leave 25 days + Bank Holidays.
