The Role





The

Quality Engineer

plays a key role within the

Inchinnan HSSEQ Team

, providing essential support for

manufacturing activities and projects

in line with

international and industry standards

, as well as

specific customer and governmental requirements

. This position involves

regular collaboration

with

Engineering, Project Management, Stores, and Manufacturing leads

, ensuring compliance and excellence across all operations.



Key responsibilities include conducting

internal audits, witnessing tests

, and may involve

travel to suppliers and trials

to maintain quality standards. Reporting directly to the

Quality Manager

, the

QA Engineer

is pivotal to

JFD's operations

, both

in-house

and with

customers

, ensuring that processes align with best practices and regulatory expectations.

Due to the requirements of this role, all candidates must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.


Principle Accountabilities




Engage subject matter specialists to develop and define customer, internal, regulatory, standard, and other government requirements at the beginning of a product, service, or project lifecycle. Develop and deploy quality frameworks in liaison with engineering and production, and oversee development of Quality Plans, ITPs with relevant subject matter experts, as required. (i.e., engineering) Carry out internal and supplier process manufacturing audits. Liaise with product/ process and project owners to address corrective actions. Inc. customer complaints and warranty rework issues. Interface with government bodies and regulators as appropriate to ensure compliance with relevant requirements. Facilitate root cause analysis on part or product quality issues working through the corrective action process with relevant stakeholders. Review CAR inputs and evidence to ensure CARs are properly addressed by process, project, or product owners in a timely window. Regularly communicate with Project, HSEQ, Procurement, Engineering, Products and Production to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement. Participate in contract and supplier review meetings. Carry out quality assurance inspections, and test witness including at vendor location. Facilitate the development of root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions with CAR owners. Participate in lessons learned activities. Conduct quality assurance analysis and reporting (i.e., monthly reporting etc.) Any other tasks that are reasonably within the remit of the role Quality process, procedure, and documentation development.

Qualifications and Experience


Background in Quality and Engineering, supported by a relevant qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and/or electrical drawings. Strong understanding of quality standards, including ISO 9001, and industry best practices. Familiar with Quality Management Software and MRP systems (e.g., Glovia - desirable). Knowledge of certification and documentation processes in the Defence sector. Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
