A challenging, dynamic role with responsibility for Quality elements of APQP within new product introduction phases, through to production hand over. Reporting in primarily to the Senior Quality Engineer, indirectly to a project manager, the role assists in delivering new product into the business meeting customer Quality requirements.
Duties & Key Responsibilities
New product/process and product/process change and maintenance
Participates in cross-functional team meetings in the evaluation and development of new products or changes related to current products to ensure the business remains compliant with customer and legislative requirements. Ensures that actions are managed in a timely fashion.
Manages inspection and test activities associated with new product introduction and product change requirements, establishing and maintaining, as part of a cross-functional team, robust inspection methodologies supported by standard operating procedures, PFMEAs, control plans, statistical process control and measurement systems analysis (MSA);
Attends project reviews as required.
Collates and submits customer PPAP documentation relating to new product, product / process changes or routine re-validation of product and process according to customer requirements.
Identify and escalate project risk at the earliest opportunity.
Support the audit of product and process at key milestone phases to ensure progress is managed correctly and meeting internal and customer objectives.
Support and monitor quality KPI's through the project phase to ensure that project targets are being achieved with evidence. Work with the project team to resolve issues where targets are not being met and escalate roadblocks and issues.
Prepares, submits and follows up customer concession and waiver request documents to a conclusion, including management of their effective implementation.
Develops a Safe Launch plan for new model and ensures reporting of result to the leadership team.
Non-conformance & concern management
Co-ordinates customer, supplier and internal quality concerns, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise impacts on customer and business objectives;
Manages identification and implementation of effective containment, corrective and preventive actions using the Global 8D approach, with the objective of closing out each stage within business and/or customer-specified response requirements.
Management System maintenance
Leads and develops the quality technician pool in ongoing manufacturing process audit and skill development.
Implements customer-specific requirements (CSRs) as applicable.
Leads and performs QMS, product, process and system audits to assure ongoing compliance to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 requirements.
Support on time calibration of applicable measuring equipment.
Manage and support documentation control in shop floor. Ensure project launch supports IATF / ISO9001 requirements.
Identifies opportunities for process improvement and contributes to Business improvement initiatives as needed.
