Job Description

We are a trusted manufacturer, suppling into the Defence sector supply chain, and we are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Engineer to join our team in Worcestershire. In this role, you will be the link between our Quality, and Manufacturing departments, assisting managers resolve problems and improve manufacturing processes. Your contribution will directly support projects that matter, from National Defence, and other industries which rely on safety-critical products and components.

This isn't just another quality role; you will be the bridge between Quality, and Manufacturing, making sure production methods are efficient, compliant, and continuously improving. You will also step up to deputise for the Quality Manager when needed, giving you visibility, responsibility, and the opportunity to shape operations at a higher level.

What you will do



In this role, you will have the opportunity to get involved across the full spectrum of quality and manufacturing support. You won't just be ticking boxes, you will be playing a hands-on role in keeping production efficient, compliant, and ready to meet customer, and MoD standards.

Supporting the Quality team in meeting departmental goals, and deputising for the Quality Manager when required Creating, reviewing, and improving documentation (work instructions, build packs, inspection reports) to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production Providing technical support to production staff, resolving queries quickly and preventing delays Participating with engineering change control, ensuring updates to drawings and specifications transition smoothly into production Evaluating and improving build documentation and processes to drive efficiency and accuracy Managing non-conformances (internal, supplier, and customer) -- raising NCRs, updating registers, and ensuring timely resolution Reviewing jigs, fixtures, and parts, carrying out inspections, troubleshooting problems, and supporting corrective actions Assisting managers in planning and coordinating production and quality activities to meet customer deadlines Collating KPI data, updating communications boards, and contributing to departmental reporting Supporting training needs by maintaining and updating training matrices for inspection teams

What you will bring



Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar engineering quality role Strong knowledge of industry / national standards, and experience with inspection techniques Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Background in document and data control Solid problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Whys, root cause analysis) Confident communicator, able to support both management and shop floor staff IT skills (Word, Excel, data entry, report writing) and excellent attention to detail Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision A hands-on, proactive approach and willingness to get involved across teams

Desirable skills & qualifications:



Experience with multi-axis measuring equipment (e.g. FARO), FAI processes, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other quality documentation Lean Six Sigma qualification or practical continuous improvement experience Planning or NPI (New Product Introduction) experience Understanding of standards such as ISO 9001, 3834, 14001, 45001, EN 15085, DIN 2303 Experience working to Defence Standards (DStan, AQAPs, MIL-STD); Rail Standards (RIS); and / or Automotive Standards (IATF) Supply chain quality management, supplier development, or auditing experience A degree in an engineering discipline
