The Quality Engineer will ensure that all steelwork manufacturing processes meet stringent quality standards, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). This role will drive quality improvement initiatives in line with lean manufacturing principles, optimizing efficiency and ensuring compliance with relevant steelwork manufacturing standards.
Vacancy Details
In this hands-on role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our fabricated products meet the highest standards of quality, aligning with internal benchmarks, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
You'll work closely with our fabrication, welding, painting, and inspection teams to embed quality throughout the manufacturing process and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections and audits across fabrication, welding, and painting processes.
Review and verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
Lead and support investigations into non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Liaise with client inspectors and internal teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality documentation.
Participate in project start-up meetings to ensure quality requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor.
Qualifications and Experience:
We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, who understands the importance of quality at every stage of production. You should be confident interpreting fabrication drawings, familiar with welding standards, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
HNC in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Significant experience in a quality engineering role within steelwork manufacturing or a related field. A solid understanding of ISO 9001 and relevant quality standards
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
