QUALITY ENGINEER

AFT Coatings is part of the AFT Fluorotec Group and have been producing precision engineered plastic components for nearly 30 years to a variety of industries, including; Aerospace, F1, Defence, Medical and Communications. We machine plastics components from drawing in small to large batch quantities and the job role is very varied and interesting.

Overview

To give sales & production technical support for the coatings division , ensuring that customers receive orders in time to the quality required and that technical processes , improvements and compliance are successfully delivered and maintained at all times.

Reporting to the quality manager and supporting the group quality & compliance manager.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Quality Manager, agreeing your workplan and successfully delivering the tasks and targets contained in this , in time , to the standard required Attend and contribute to the daily & weekly production meetings with the Business Manager and shopfloor production manager, ensuring that your responsibilities regarding technical requirements for the customer orders are fully covered. Make sure that sample log cards are completed and followed up, and that R & D records are regularly updated and reported. Help to establish accurate material & labour costs for jobs Contribute to contract review sign offs, and the successful despatch of customer orders as required by your Manager, working and communicating effectively with the rest of the Coatings team Help troubleshoot issues on current jobs, minimising any delays, ensuring that internal NCRs are recorded and completed successfully Manage all NCR's (Internal, External & Supplier) ensuring timely completion of the reporting and corrective actions, sharing all learnings with the relevant team members Support the stock inventory system - liaising with the Office Manager, controlling the efficient ordering and usage of stock, ensuring accurate month end and year end Stock Take reporting Supervise the day to day running of the QMS and ISO standards for Coatings, supporting internal and external audits, liaising with the Coatings Quality Manager and the Group Quality & Compliance Manager, supporting the Compliance and Quality improvements across the business as required. Support the continual improvements of Coatings; Products, Services and Processes, supplying quality and process data to back these improvements, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and helping to train production staff, while utilising Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma Initiatives

Requirements and skill

Planning, Excel, analysis, SOP, and problem solving skills NCR and KPI recording and reporting, attention to detail Strong teamworking and communication skills Advantage for relevant qualifications at level 3 and above
