Role Summary
The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that all manufactured components meet customer specifications and internal quality standards. This position involves the inspection of precision-engineered parts using a variety of measurement tools and techniques, supporting continuous improvement and compliance with ISO Standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections of machined components.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, calliper's, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
Record and report inspection results, non-conformances, and support root cause analysis.
Liaise with production teams to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Maintain inspection documentation and ensure traceability of parts.
Support internal and external audits as required.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Department.
Requirements
Proven experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of mechanical inspection techniques and tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Experience with CMM operation and programming.
Desirable Qualifications
NVQ / BTEC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
CMM training or experience with software such as PC-DMIS or Mitutoyo MCOSMOS.
Lean / Six Sigma awareness.
