The Role
As Quality Manager at Archwood, you will ensure that the products and services we provide are fit for purpose, consistent, and meet both internal and external requirements -- including legal compliance and customer expectations.
You'll lead our Quality and Health & Safety functions and have three direct reports, including the Health & Safety Manager. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll be the key decision-maker for all quality-related issues and customer complaints, while driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) and strategy to meet business and customer requirements.
Lead Health & Safety across the site, supporting the Health & Safety Manager and ensuring best practice.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and high service standards.
Liaise with suppliers and purchasing teams to ensure compliance with agreed quality standards and complete regular audits.
Develop and maintain key business processes including customer complaints, returns, and document control.
Write, revise, and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and operational practicality.
Investigate discrepancies, non-conformances, and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
Maintain awareness of relevant legislation and ensure continued ISO9001 and ISO14001 compliance.
Define and report on KPIs to monitor and drive improvements in quality performance.
Mentor, coach, and develop the Quality team while promoting best practice and consistency across departments.
Support New Product Development (NPD) with a focus on drawing and specification control.
Champion lean and continuous improvement principles to enhance efficiency and quality across the site.
Skills and Experience Required
Experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment (timber industry experience desirable).
Sound knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.
Experience of implementing change and improving processes across multiple departments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and confident analysing and interpreting data.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organisational and influencing skills.
Understanding of lean and continuous improvement methodologies.
Able to work independently and make informed decisions.
A proactive, tenacious approach and a genuine passion for quality and improvement.
Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and motivate others.
