Reports to:



Manager of Bentilee Volunteers

Salary:



12.21 per hour

Main Duties:



To effectively manage Bentilee volunteers social, educational and creative activity group for adults with learning disabilities

General Responsibilities:



Oversee stimulating and interesting activity sessions that are fun, educational, appealing and creative, as well as helping with cleaning up, cooking, refreshments, etc

Look at ways to increase and maintain the membership of adults with learning disabilities, particularly of those from the local area

Engage with adults with learning disabilities in a positive manner by being supportive and empathetic, offering guidance when necessary

To supervise and support rainbow staff and volunteers

Provide monthly schedules of session details and events for service users and other members of staff

Network with other learning disability providers and establish appropriate working partnerships

Build relationships with families and carers to assist service users in attending regularly

Setting up before the sessions and cleaning/tidying up afterwards

Organising and attending trips and outings as required

In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to take care of your own health and safety at work and of any clients you are working with. This includes reporting any risks or potential hazards to the Health and Safety Officer

Attend supervision and appropriate internal and external training courses as approved by your line manager

To perform any other duties as appropriate for this role as requested by your line manager

Personal Qualities and Attributes:



Be aware of and understand the special needs, medical conditions and disabilities of our Rainbow Club members

Be able to work any additional hours, as required with notice, to cover the work of colleagues during periods of planned and unplanned absences

Ability to engage with, and relate to adults with learning disabilities

Confident, energetic, caring, resourceful, friendly and motivated individual with a flexible approach to work

Must be an excellent team player

Enjoys working with adults with learning disabilities and helping them in their personal and social development

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Enjoys being involved with both indoor and outdoor activities, with a creative and resourceful approach

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:



Prior experience of working with and supporting adults with learning disabilities

IT Skills to write reports, create posters, email and use of social media to promote the club

A good standard of English, written and verbal is desirable

Experience in managing staff and/or volunteers is desirable

A qualification in working with adults with learning disabilities is desirable

Prior experience of working in the voluntary/charity sector is preferred

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions
