Why this job matters

The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and will be built on the existing 4G network and will provide essential new voice, data services and critical comms to 300,000 members of Britain\'s Blue Light teams. It\'s also expected that the new network will save the government around \xc2\xa31 million a day.

This role shall ensure that any new ESN projects and ESN services are managed from concept through to in-life operations whilst ensuring effective, efficient operations services are provided by our ESN supplier portfolio.

This role will be based in Bristol.

What you\'ll be doing

  • Technical operations lead for ESN projects and support model working across all access network domains
  • Implement the operations service design framework and service management strategy for all new ESN projects and services with in-house teams and our vendors and managed service partners
  • Operations technical interface with ESN vendors, building strategic relationships and handling investigations and escalations. Regularly review contractual and operational performance of the ESN supplier services through running governance forum
  • Proactively provide recommendations for innovation regarding the ESN projects and services and applying continuous service improvement principles
  • Represent ESN operations in supporting new contract service requests, and support RFP tenders for new services and scope

What we would like to see on your CV
  • Proven background in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences
  • Knowledgeable in contracts, budgets, forecasting, supplier commercial behaviours and the drivers of organisational performance
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills from engineering level communications up to management level dashboard creation. Experience of working with vendors, or outsource partners / managed services partners
  • Through knowledge of radio access network (RAN) performance KPIs and user experience matrix. Knowledge of radio networks, experience of working in operations, and experience of working in the field with power and transmission solutions
  • The successful candidate must be willing to undergo BPSS Level Government Screening which ideally requires residence in the UK for a minimum of 3 years

Flexible Working
This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
