Job Description

An internationally renowned business that operates in the materials & composites market is currently recruiting for an R&D Technician to join its team on a permanent basis. As R&D Technician, you will provide key support to the formulation team - preparing and completing resin R&D projects whilst also being responsible for characterisation/analysis tasks.

R&D Technician responsibilities

• Preparation of resin formulations developed by Hexcel development scientists and manufacture of test specimens.
• Characterisation of resin and composite properties by thermal analysis, spectroscopic techniques, mechanical tests, and microscopic methods.
• Suggest improvements to processes and working practices.
• Clear communication of results to development chemists.
• Contributing to sustaining the R&D laboratory and testing lab facilities by working in continuous improvement teams.

R&D Technician requirements

• Ideally possess a qualification in a technical subject, such as HND/Degree etc. However, candidates without a qualification will be considered if bringing relevant industrial experience.
• Practical laboratory experience - working in a formulation/R&D/materials science environment.
• Keen eye for detail and practically minded.
• Able to demonstrate a proactive and methodical approach to work.
• Competent to work safely in a chemical laboratory without the need for supervision including demonstrable awareness of good practice in terms of laboratory health and safety.
• Must be able to record experimental results accurately and concisely.
• Must be numerate and able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Strong team player - able and willing to actively contribute to project team.
