Property paralegal. Cheltenham base.
Full / Part-time.c. 1 year fixed term contract.
About the role
Wiggin is not a typical law firm and this is not a typical Property Paralegal role.
We specialise in media, technology, sports, betting & gaming and intellectual property. While our clients instruct us on mainstream freehold, leasehold and other property work, many of our film and TV sector clients also use us to negotiate location contracts for filming anything from small TV productions to the next blockbuster movie. While these contracts are fundamentally land hire agreements, they also contain bespoke provisions designed to protect and maximise the value of the filming content being produced.
As a paralegal in our compact and agile Property Team, you'll work alongside highly skilled lawyers on a range of property matters. You'll undertake a range of practical tasks on core transactions (acquisitions and disposals), such as property searches, investigations and reports on title, managing the mechanics of completion and post-completion matters etc. Mostly this will relate to commercial property but there will be occasional high-profile or high-value residential purchase and sales work too.
You'll also enjoy hands-on experience with our location contracts work, working on multiple contracts simultaneously for a range of film and TV production companies. You'll get full training to ensure you can quickly become confident in this unusual and exciting workstream.
The role is being offered on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave with a start date in January 2026. We are open to considering candidates looking for part-time positions on at least a 75% full-time equivalent basis.
Based in our Cheltenham office, under our discretionary hybrid working policy you'll typically be able to work from home up to 2 days each week.
About you
You're probably already excited about the prospect of watching your first movie where you've helped facilitate the on-location filming.
Before you apply, note that we are looking for candidates to have at least 6 months' experience working in a property paralegal role with a solid knowledge and experience of English property law and the main elements involved in commercial property transactions - freehold and leasehold.
This is a client facing and fast-paced role requiring excellent time management and meticulous attention to detail alongside exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Please ensure that your skills in each of these areas are amply demonstrated in your application.
We expect a high level of interest in this role and we will close the vacancy to new applications once we believe we have a sufficient number of candidates, so while you should submit a carefully prepared application, please do not delay.
