Receptionist / Administrative Assistant
Location: Eccles, Greater Manchester
Hours: Monday 8:00am - 4:30pm, Thursday & Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm
Rate: 12.62 per hour
Contract: Immediate start - April 2026
DBS: Enhanced DBS required
About the Role
We are delighted to be working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive School, who are seeking an organised, professional, and friendly Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join their team.
This is a key front-of-house role providing a warm and efficient reception service to visitors, staff, and pupils, while supporting the wider administrative team with day-to-day school operations. The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a caring, proactive approach in line with the school's safeguarding and community values.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a professional, welcoming reception service to all visitors, staff, and pupils.
Manage the reception area, ensuring it is tidy, organised, and represents the school's ethos.
Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries politely and efficiently.
Manage visitor entry procedures in line with safeguarding requirements.
Support daily attendance and pupil data entry on school systems (Arbor).
Assist with general administration, photocopying, scanning, and correspondence.
Manage incoming and outgoing post, deliveries, and school communications.
Maintain the school's central records and assist with DBS checks for staff and visitors.
Support with EHCP review administration and documentation.
Prepare pupil and staff lunch numbers, liaising with the catering team.
Monitor and manage admin email accounts.
Support with the school website and assist with promotional materials when required.
Take minutes for weekly staff meetings and distribute accordingly.
Maintain pupil information systems, photo permissions, and dietary requirement lists.
Provide support for uniform orders and school photographer sessions.
Undertake safeguarding, health and safety, and fire marshal duties as required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is approachable, organised, and enjoys working in a busy school environment. You'll be the first point of contact for parents and visitors, so professionalism, patience, and great communication skills are key.
Essential skills and experience:
Previous office or administrative experience.
Strong IT skills, including Word and Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work calmly under pressure.
Team player with a positive and professional attitude.
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection.
Desirable:
Experience working within a school environment.
Knowledge of Arbor or similar MIS systems.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
First Aid qualification (or willingness to train).
