Mundesley Medical Centre is looking for an experienced medical reception to join our friendly reception team for 18.5 hours a week (set days)

We have a strong emphasis on team work, being unique, development of the team and learning all the time. We aim to create a pleasant and sustainable environment for our team to work in and strongly believe that a happy team creates happy patients!

We are looking for someone with General Practice experience in a reception/admin role.

For information the current practice opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm.

Job Summary:



The role of Receptionist is to assist patients and clinical colleagues in the delivery of patient care using via face to face, telephone and written customer services. Projecting a positive, caring and friendly image to our patients, colleagues and visitors.

Job Responsibilities



To facilitate patient access to the clinical care provided by the practice. To ensure all visitors and callers to the practice are greeted professionally and with compassion. Signpost patients to appropriate services. To support the achievement of contacted targets such as Quality and Outcomes Framework target and PCN Investment and Impact fund targets. Input data in a timely manner and accurately into clinical and supporting IT systems. Help to maintain a positive, supportive culture across the whole of the practice team. To carry out specific allocated admin roles related to patient care, registration or communications. To help plan, develop and support the introduction of new working processes within the practice to optimise services and patient care. Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating Anticipate barriers to communication and take action to improve communication Maintain effective communication within the organisational environment and with external stakeholders Act as an advocate for patients and colleagues Ensure awareness of sources of support and guidance (eg PALS) and provide information in an acceptable format to all patients, recognising any difficulties and referring where appropriate Any other duties commensurate with this position.

Confidentiality:

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately

In the performance of the duties outlined in this , the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential

Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

Health & Safety:

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others' health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines

Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks

Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills

Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards

Reporting potential risks identified

Contribution to the Implementation of Services:

The post-holder will:

Apply Practice policies, standards and guidance

Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work

Participate in audit where appropriate
