Working for reception in General Practice is a rewarding post helping people get the right treatment, however like most frontline jobs it can be often pressurised and demanding.
To cope in this type of environment we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate previous experience of working under pressure whilst maintaining excellent customer care.
You will work within an established reception team.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Opening the premises, de-activating the alarm and checking heat and ventilation.(as necessary). Ensuring practice rooms and waiting area's are prepared ready for surgery.
2. Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow up appointments and receiving and managing requests for repeat prescriptions.
3. Use the computer to undertake new prescriptions and repeat prescriptions for checking by the doctor before collection.
4. To deal with practice tasks on a daily basis, ensuring that the action is either completed or forwarded on.
5. Receiving and directing patients on arrival in a courteous and efficient manner.
6. Receiving and updating requests for home visits,
7. Ensuring that an adequate supply of stationary is available in the consulting rooms and the reception area. (as necessary)
8. Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues, together with information about any unresolved or urgent matters.
9. Ensuring all work activity is completed daily .
10. To abide by all Practice protocols and take personal responsibility to keep up to date with training and changes in Practice systems.
11. To undertake additional duties as may be determined from time to time commensurate with the range of activities described above.
12. If the surgery is running late you will have to stay until the GP is finished or the GP does not require you to stay.
13. As well as your core hours, you will also be required to cover holidays and sickness for your reception colleagues.
14. You may be required to work at other NCPC's practices in the Copeland area.
