The referrals administrator is responsible for managing the surgery's referral processes, ensuring patients are referred to the appropriate services in a timely,accurate,and efficient manner.
The role involves working closely with GP's, clinical staff, hospitals, and community services to support smooth patient pathways and continuity of care.
Key duties and responsibilities
Process referrals generated by GP's nurses and other clinicians via eRS and other approved systems
Ensure referrals include accurate clinical information, attachments and coding
Track and manage referral queues and notify clinicians of outstanding actions
Monitor and action Advice and Guidance responses
Support patients with queries regarding their referrals
Patient Communication
Provide clear information to patients about referral steps and expected timescales
Handle calls, emails, and online messages relating to referrals
Escalate concerns about urgent or delayed referrals to clinical or management staff
Data and Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records of all referrals in line with GDPR and confidentiality protocols
Emis system to record referral activity

Experience and Qualifications
Administrative or customer service experience
IT proficiency
Understanding of confidentiality
NHS or GP practice experience
Knowledge of referral pathways
Experience using eRS, Emis, Docman and Accurx
Shifts are 8am-1pm or 2pm to 6.30pm
Full time 37 Hrs
Part time 20 hrs
