A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Registered Manager
to lead a small, specialist children's residential home supporting young people with
emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
. This 2-bed service (currently housing one young person) is in a development phase with strong leadership investment and a clear improvement plan in place.
Working closely with an experienced and supportive Responsible Individual with a
social work and therapeutic background
, this role is perfect for an established Deputy Manager ready to step up--or an existing Registered Manager looking for a fresh opportunity within a reflective and trauma-informed environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dynamic leadership of the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for young people.
Maintain compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations.
Lead the home through development, inspections, audits, and quality improvement planning.
Oversee safeguarding, incident management, care planning, and staff performance.
Build a strong, resilient staff team capable of delivering consistent, therapeutic care.
Liaise with professionals, local authorities, and regulatory bodies to promote positive outcomes.
Champion a therapeutic, PACE-informed approach throughout all aspects of home life.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
Minimum
2-3 years' experience
in a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager role within a children's EBD home.
Good understanding of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding legislation, and therapeutic approaches to behaviour support.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and create a positive culture.
A flexible and committed leadership style, with availability to participate in the on-call rota.
Full UK Driving Licence
(preferred).
Desirable:
Experience working in a "Requires Improvement" setting and contributing to service improvement.
Familiarity with PACE, restorative practices, or attachment-based models.
Confidence in leading external inspections, audits, and placement reviews.
Weekly input from an RI with a social work and therapeutic background
Working Hours & Expectations
Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (flexibility required)
On-call duties shared as part of the leadership function
Must be able to respond to operational and safeguarding needs as required
