to lead a small children's residential home providing 24-hour compassionate care for children aged 5 to 17. This is for an existing Children's Residential Manager seeking a change or a step-up role for an experienced Deputy Manager who is ready to take on full registration responsibility and help shape a safe, nurturing environment where children can heal, grow, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the home with a holistic, child-centred philosophy focused on the emotional, physical, and psychological well-being of each child.
Ensure high standards of care and safeguarding, aligned with Ofsted requirements.
Mentor, support, and develop staff to provide consistent therapeutic practice, including responses that are compassionate, respectful, and without judgment.
Oversee compliance, policies, audits, and quality assurance to maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment.
Foster relationships with children, families, and multi-professional teams to promote stability, trust, and healing.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year's experience as a Deputy Manager in a children's residential setting.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - essential
Level 5 in Leadership and Management (or willing to complete)
Strong experience of working with children with emotional & behavioural difficulties, autism, trauma, or mental health needs.
Strong leadership, safeguarding, and regulatory knowledge.
Ability to build nurturing and trusting relationships and deliver therapeutic, compassionate responses.
Full UK driving licence preferred.
