Registered Manager For Children's Home

Job Description

The Registered Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the children's home in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements. They will ensure the highest quality of care, safeguarding, and support for children and young people, while leading, supervising, and developing the staff team.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Management

Provide effective leadership, vision, and direction for the home. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and statutory guidance. Manage the home's policies, procedures, and Statement of Purpose, ensuring these are followed. Lead, mentor, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and professional culture. Complete Regulation 45 reports and contribute to Regulation 44 visits. Maintain an up-to-date development plan for the home.
Safeguarding & Welfare

Ensure children are safeguarded and their welfare promoted at all times. Lead on child protection concerns, liaising with external safeguarding agencies when required. Ensure staff fully understand and implement safeguarding policies and procedures.
Children & Young People

Ensure each child has an individualised care plan and receives high-quality, trauma-informed care. Promote children's education, health, emotional, and social development. Encourage participation in decision-making and ensure children's voices are central. Promote positive behaviour management and restorative approaches.
Staff Management

Recruit, induct, and retain a skilled and motivated team. Ensure all staff receive regular supervision, appraisal, and training. Maintain staffing levels in line with children's needs and regulations.
Quality Assurance & Compliance

Monitor and evaluate the quality of care and outcomes for children. Ensure Ofsted inspection readiness at all times. Maintain accurate records, reports, and notifications in line with regulations. Manage budgets, resources, and rota planning effectively.

Person Specification



Essential

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards within 3 years of appointment). Minimum of 2 years' experience in a senior role in a children's residential setting. Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards. Proven leadership, supervision, and staff management skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, professionals, and external agencies. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to evidence Ofsted compliance and readiness.
Desirable

Experience of managing a children's home as a Registered Manager. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle. Experience working with children with complex needs, trauma, or challenging behaviour.
