Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to patients with mental health needs, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.

Duties

Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify mental health issues and develop appropriate care plans. Administer medications and monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions. Provide therapeutic interventions and support to patients in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care facilities. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure adherence to treatment protocols. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies. Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Participate in case management activities, including discharge planning and follow-up care. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health nursing.

Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set that includes but is not limited to:

Familiarity with behavioral health practices and working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Skills in patient assessment, medication administration, IV insertion, venipuncture, phlebotomy, and airway management. Experience in various nursing specialties such as geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, acute pain management, and emergency medicine. Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and physical examinations. Competence in managing complex cases involving mental health disorders alongside physical health concerns.
