Role Overview
As the Registered Service Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the
day-to-day running, quality and development of our semi-independent service.
You will:
? Be the Ofsted Registered Manager for the service.
? Lead a team of adults who support young people to live safely, develop
independence skills and move on positively.
? Make sure the service is fully compliant with regulations and best practice
in safeguarding and semi-independent provision.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about young people's futures
and confident in leading others to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
Key Responsibilities
Service Leadership & Operations
? Oversee the day-to-day running of the semi-independent provision,
ensuring a safe, homely and structured environment.
? Ensure the service meets all regulatory and contractual requirements,
including Ofsted expectations for supported accommodation.
? Develop and maintain effective systems for rota management, staffing
levels, health & safety, and building checks.
? Take the lead in preparing for and responding to inspections, audits and
quality assurance visits.
Quality, Compliance & Safeguarding
? Ensure robust safeguarding arrangements are in place and that adults
understand and follow all safeguarding policies and procedures.
? Oversee incident reporting, notifications, learning reviews and follow-up
actions to reduce risk and improve practice.
? Monitor and review care and support plans, risk assessments and
placement plans to make sure they are current, personalised and
outcome-focused.
? Use data, feedback and audits to drive continuous improvement and
evidence positive outcomes.
Young People - Outcomes & Independence
? Ensure each young person has a clear, personalised plan that supports
their:
o Safety and emotional wellbeing
o Education, training and employment
o Life skills (e.g. budgeting, cooking, self-care, tenancy skills)
o Identity, culture and community connections
? Promote a culture where young people are listened to, involved in
decisions and encouraged to be as independent as possible.
? Support a positive move-on experience, working with placing authorities
and other professionals on transition planning.
People Management & Development
? Lead, motivate and support a team of adults to deliver consistent, high-
quality support.
? Provide regular supervision, annual appraisals and clear development
plans.
? Identify training needs and ensure adults are confident in areas such as
safeguarding, behaviour support, boundaries and independence work.
? Promote a positive, open and reflective team culture where learning and
professional curiosity are encouraged.
Partnership Working & Communication
? Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, social
workers, education providers, health professionals and other agencies.
? Represent the service professionally in meetings, reviews and strategy
discussions.
? Communicate clearly and transparently with young people, families and
professionals.
Administration, Finance & Reporting
? Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring value for money
without compromising quality.
? Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including daily records, logs,
reports and statutory notifications.
? Provide regular reports and updates to senior management regarding
performance, risks, incidents and development plans.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
? QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or
equivalent) or willingness to work towards this.
? Experience in managing or deputising within semi-independent, supported
accommodation, residential childcare or similar services.
? Strong understanding of Ofsted expectations for supported
accommodation and relevant regulations / guidance.
? Proven experience of leading and developing a team.
? Sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and multi-agency
working.
? Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
Desirable:
? Experience of working specifically with care-experienced young people
(16+).
? Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
