Registered/Home Care Manager
to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and to ensure the highest standards of care and compliance.
Role Overview:
As
Registered/Home Care Manager
, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing the care team, supporting staff development, and ensuring that the home meets all Ofsted requirements. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to drive continuous improvement, provide direct support to the young people, and foster a nurturing and structured environment where they can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Registered Manager in all operational aspects of the home.
Act as the designated lead in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Lead, mentor and supervise the care team, promoting professional development and high performance.
Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies are up to date and implemented effectively.
Oversee the safeguarding and welfare of all young people in line with current legislation and company policies.
Contribute to inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with Ofsted's Quality Standards and Children's Homes Regulations.
Maintain effective communication with families, professionals, and partner agencies.
Participate in the on-call rota and cover sleep-in duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential);
Level 7 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) or willingness to work towards it.
Minimum of 4 years' experience working in a residential children's home, with at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
Excellent leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Deputy Manager -
As
Registered/Home Care Manager
, you will support the Registered Manager in the overall management and leadership of the children's home, ensuring high standards of care are delivered to all children in line with legislative and regulatory requirements. You will lead by example, mentor the staff team, and be responsible for the day-to-day operational functioning of the home. You will deputise fully for the manager during periods of absence, including taking on managerial duties, decision-making, and liaising with external professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth operation of the home.
Support in the recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management of staff.
Lead team meetings when required and contribute to staff development through coaching, mentoring, and reflective supervision.
Support the compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards including those set by Ofsted, The Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
Support with the induction and probation process for new staff and ensure development opportunities are embedded in daily practice.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Ensure the safety and welfare of children is always paramount.
Take a lead role in safeguarding practice and investigations, working closely with the Registered Manager and external safeguarding professionals.
Maintain accurate, timely and confidential records including daily logs, incident reports, and regulatory documentation.
Participate in audits, Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 processes and action planning for continuous improvement.
Child-Focused Practice
Build meaningful relationships with children and the adults that support them that promote trust, emotional safety, and development.
Oversee and contribute to care planning, risk assessments and therapeutic support in collaboration with professionals.
Promote positive behaviour support strategies, de-escalation approaches and trauma-informed care.
Be involved in care reviews and planning meetings and ensure children's voices are represented in their care.
Operational Oversight
Support shifts and ensure adequate planning, delegation, and communication across the team.
Support and oversee health and safety within the home, including fire safety, medication management, and cleanliness standards.
Manage rotas and staffing cover in conjunction with the Registered Manager.
Contribute to the home's development plan and strategic goals.
Family & Professional Liaison
Develop strong relationships with external agencies, families, social workers, schools, and health services.
Attend professional meetings and contribute effectively to multidisciplinary plans.
Promote family contact and meaningful life experiences for children.
Person Specification
Essential:
Level 5 in Leadership and Management (Children's Residential Services).
At least 4 years' experience working in a residential childcare setting.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant childcare legislation.
Ability to lead and inspire a team with excellent communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
Flexible, resilient, and able to work under pressure.
Full UK driving licence.
Commitment to trauma-informed, child-centred care.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a senior or management role.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
Understanding of developmental trauma, attachment theory, and therapeutic models of care.
